Takaynar

At the start of 2020, we found ourselves deep in the Tarkine forest (Takayna) located on the West coast of Tasmania. The forest we stood in (soon after destroyed) and the surrounding graveyards of beautiful trees gave us a huge wakeup call. Returning to Melbourne with a sense of disbelief we began planning. COVID 19 arrived and it brutally confirmed to us the gap in our systems and forced us to question how we are acting as human beings in the world. How are we feeding our bodies? How are we feeding our mind? How are we treating people? How are we treating the world? Is our current way of life hurting us? Takaynar was born and named in dedication to the Tarkine forest/Takayna. Takaynar is a platform to take massive action and alongside those who wish to do the same.

Alexandria

Alex grew up in Tasmania, home to the cleanest air and oldest trees on the planet which she only deeply appreciated once living abroad. From a young age, Alex was always obsessed with design both interior and exterior. The concept that to place things in a certain way together can create feelings, inspire action, and influence mood, as well as work to enhance our practical lives, was always fascinating. As years went on, gaining knowledge and different interests such as environmental impact, health, and personal growth, her design eye began to expand. These interests eventually led Alex to Permaculture which she has been studying, applying, teaching, and sharing ever since. Now Alex is dedicated to incorporating her passion for design to create captivating spaces in the world that provide an abundance of food for people and revive the slowly eroding soil below our feet.

Maurizio

Maurizio grew up and lived most of his life in Sardinia, one of the seven blue zones on the globes and famous for the high number of centenarians. Since an early age he has been fascinated by energy in all forms including people, technology, and nature. For his entire life, Maurizio emersed himself in different lifestyles where he continually studied and experimented with dietary choices, technology implementation, renewable energy and human behaviour, always seeking a different point of view and the common line that connects the two opposites. The insatiable curiosity and desire to change perspective in order to find practical applications to improve the quality of people’s life drove Maurizio toward the co-creation of Takaynar.
